1This book stinks!  Aug 18, 2009
This book has no examples of anything. The sample tests have poor explainations. It offers nothing the PMBOK doesn't already offer. Its that simple

4Mission accomplished  May 27, 2009
I used this book in order to get up to speed on the 3rd Edition PMBOK, since I actually read the 4th addition prior to deciding to test early. This book was extremely helpful and in getting me ready to test in a short period of time. There are a few mistakes that you will run across if you are on your toes, including the one most reported here regarding the 3 point estimate, but overall, if you take it seriously, this book will get you where you need to be. My only warning is that the exam will be based upon the 4th edition soon, so depending on when you plan on testing, you might want to wait for a new edition to this book.

3Mostly good info, but a number of conflicts to PMBOK  May 08, 2009
The book attempts to follow the sequence of the PMBOK but in assuring what I am assuming is a required limit on quoting the book loses key points and objectives. There appeared to be a number of direct conflicts to the PMBOK and some cases of just bad info (3 point estimate P+O+M/4 ????).

Study questions appear very straight forward compared to the actual test questions or other study books. I would suggest seeking out other study questions if this is the book you are preping for the exam with.

In general was good information to read, but did leave a concern over what might be the the authors world and what migt be PMBOK world, and potentially leave one high and dry on the exam.

4User friendly - but beware...  Apr 06, 2009
Overall, I would recommend this book as a study guide as the material is very readable. My only criticism is that the text appears to not have been edited well, as I found many mistakes. For example: the 3 pt stimate is mentioned in chapter 6, but doesn't include the formula; the chapter test requires that you know the formula, but the formula is wrong in the answer section: (P+4M+O)/3; the formula appears again in the 'Everything You Must Know' chapter, but is different and still wrong:(P+M+O)/4. The correct formula is (P+M+O)/3 for 3 pt and(P+4M+O)/6 for PERT. If you are on your toes - you will catch the mistakes. Ironically, finding them made me more confident in my readiness to pass the exam.

5Haven't taken the exam yet, but looks good.  Jan 12, 2009
I haven't taken the exam yet, so I really don't know how good this book is, but it looks good.

It's written in plain English, and easy to understand. PMBOK guide makes me go to sleep, but reading this book is no problem. I always carry it around so I can read it whenever I have time.
