5Great Help In Passing the PMP Exam  Mar 24, 2007 By Ariel Dave
I received this book only a couple of days before my PMP exam, and I'm happy I did. It helped me a great deal in passing the exam. I won't say the questions are easy or difficult, wordy or non-wordy. But I will say this: they are realistic, very realistic. Let me put it this way. When I was taking the exam, most of the questions were ringing bells. Some of those bells connected to my study guide, most of them connected to the questions in this book, and a very few connected to a very expensive software simulation CD that I bought. For me it's too late, but you can save hundreds of dollars by using this book along with your study guide. This is not to say that the exam is easy; it is tough...but this book helped...The exam tips in the Introduction of the book changed my attitude toward the exam and the exam preparation; that helped. The questions also exposed the weak spots in my preparation..so I went back to the study guide and improved my understanding...I skimmed through the Quick Exam Prep section just before the exam...that helped to knock down a few questions in the exam right away...
I recommend this book to each PMP exam taker, highly.

5Excellent Book: Very Practical and Helpful  Dec 07, 2007 By Frank Heer
I have over 15 years project management experience; and I can say that this is a very practical and helpful book and will take you through the PMP exam. I'm saying practical, because it actually helps even more than Rita's expensive software. Don't get discouraged by a cheap shot review on these pages to advertize that expensive software.
This book has just enough number of questions that will take just enough of your time that you need to spend to pass the PMP exam.
Pros:
1) The questions are very realistic.
2) The book presents the techniques to recognize and handle the questions properly in the exam.
3) Answers are explained in detail: why the correct answer is correct and incorrect answrs are incorrect. It refreshes the important points.
4) A quick review of the PMP exam material is presented, that you can quickly go through just before the exam.

That said, just like any other book, this book also has some typos, but much less than an averge book...and MUCH MUCH less than the problems and errors that Rita's software simulation package has. These few typos boil down to just one solution: Trust the explanation. For example, if Answer: says A and the explanation says B is the correct answer, then the correct answer is B. As I said, there are very few such cases...Material in this book has overall much better quality than Rita's expensive software.
Actually, I find this book the best in its category...
Good luck for your exam.

5An Excellent Low Budget Solution  Jun 02, 2007 By Roy J.
I'm a project manager, PMP, and a Project Management trainer. I recommend this book to my students in addition to the Study Guide they use because it's an excellent low budget alternative to expensive software simulation programs. It's lot more than just a collection of three exams. First, the questions are very realistic. And three practice exams with realistic questions are enough for the PMP exam preparation, and lot better than thousands of un-realistic (simple or complex) questions. Why put more time and effort into the exam preparation than you need to? Second, answers to each question are well explained: why a correct answer is correct and an incorrect answer is incorrect. This helps my students spot the weak points in their preparation. Third, I like the exam tips in the Introduction. It orients the students in the right direction to prepare for the exam. Fourth, the Exam Quick Prep at the end offers a very quick and meaningful review of the PMBOK Guide. I ask my students to quickly go through it an hour or two before the exam.
However, it's a self contained book, and you do not need any instructor to use it.
I recommend it highly to anyone who is preparing for the PMP exam.

5De Facto Book On the PMP Practice Exams  Jul 28, 2007 By Frank Marsha
I am saying this from my personal experience: if you want to pass the PMP Exam, this book has got just enough practice exams to get you through the actual exams successfully. I found this book worth lot more than its price. Alternative? You can spend a couple of hundereds of doallrs to buy Rita's software simulation packagae and get tons of "tricky" and "complicated" and essentially repeating questions which will consume tons of your time, but the results will not be any better. The key word here is "realistic", and not "tricky" or "complicated; And the questions in this book ARE realistic...Very realistic...Suggestion: read the exam tips in the Introduction before going through the practice exams...It teaches you to look at the questions and handle them in the right way...
In reference to a couple of comments by some other reviewers, yes, this book has some typos, but which book does not? [I hope no book did]. In my opinion, those typos are less in numbers than in many other PM books...and they are trivial to figure out...Don't let that turn you away from this overall excelent resource, which is temendoiusly helpful in passing the PMP exam.

5Very Useful Nugget for the PMP Exam Prep  Jun 08, 2007 By Maria
I found this book contains very realistic questions. I really liked the exam tips. Read these before going through your Study Guide the last time because it enables you to determine what to look for while studying for the exam. I also liked the fact that each answer was explained in detail, why the right answer was right and wrong answers were wrong. It exposed the weak areas in my preparation. Going through the Quick Exam Prep at the end of the book, just before the exam, was also very helpful.
I passed on the first try.
