5not much to say...  Jul 28, 2010
...apart from this is an excellent and comprehensive guide. Plenty of reference material. Maybe a little bit expensive...but then again, most of the key publications for Prince2 and PMBOK are.

Very much recommended as a guide/reference book.

5Good general reference.  Jul 26, 2010
This is a good compendium of project management topics and I do recommend it. It is definately a good overview for those new to the formal study of project management. In addition to those studying for the certification exam, I would include this as required reading/study for those who are working on a large project but don't have a lot of practical experience. The book follows a logical sequence of topics. In this context, it is a 5 star reference book.

For me personally, I found this book to be somewhat generic; but has good coverage for a very broad range of project management topics. The sample forms and templates could have been presented in multiple versions that repreresented different industry perspectives. Perhaps the addition of case studies and crosswalks with other methodologies would enhance the overall reading experience. That part of this evaluation results in a 4 star rating.

Overall 4.5 which I went ahead and rounded up to a 5. Good job.

It's a book, I'm reading.

Por estar em ingles a leitura é mais lenta,
mas o conteúdo parece bem interessante.

5Pretty good reference material for PMP certification boot camp  Jul 13, 2010
In addition to a full color 200 page project management guide offered through Off Peak Training , the PMBOK® Guide, by PMI® is incredibly handy as a reference tool. When a student has a question that can't be answered by the professor, the whole class refers to the PMBOK® Guide as the end all, be all of project management. The Project Management Institute has made significant improvements to the PMBOK ® Guide over the years and is now on the fourth edition. If you are a project manager and don't have this book sitting on your book shelf - buy it now. You can also get this book for free as part of many hands-on learning classes. If you are looking for hands-on learning I would suggest searching for Off Peak Training.

5Success Factors of Project Managers: EQ & CQ, not IQ  Jul 09, 2010
YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE
EMOTIONAL & CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ/CQ) TRUMPS IQ for Project Success

I came across an interesting website for project managers. The site studies the importance of emotional and cultural intelligence (plus some other attributes) of project managers in relation to their project management performance.

It offers free assessment in those two intelligence quotients (EQ & CQ), which are found to be more important than IQ for professional success. Such professional assessments normally cost hundreds of dollars but the site's free assessment is for a limited time only. The assessments were designed by pioneers and eminent researchers in the respective fields. I recommend you to check it out because it may be beneficial to your career.
